​There are superb talents emerging in Malayalam cinema, making well appreciated films. In 2017 too there were some remarkable films, made by rookie filmmakers.

Of course, there are have been quite a few others too who made an impression with their maiden ventures, apart from the ones who are in this list, like Jay K, who directed Ezra and Antony Sony, who made C/O Saira Banu, for instance.

But these five had their debut memorable by making films that created the maximum impact, at the box office, in the reviews and also in the media.
