Police: Man held up convenience store wielding machete

STRATFORD (AP) — Connecticut police are asking the public for help in identifying a machete-wielding robbery.

Stratford police say the man robbed an area convenience store on Sunday of approximately $800 in cash while using a machete. The Connecticut Post reports the suspect was wearing an army green zip-up hoodie, blue jeans and black sneakers, and obscured his face with sunglasses and a tan trapper-style hat.

Police Capt. Frank Eannotti says the suspect appears to be a white or Hispanic man in his 20s or 30s.

The attending employee was not injured in the robbery. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
