MARKETS LIVE: Sensex, Nifty, Asian markets, Global markets, F&O expiry

The benchmark indices turned flat after opening at record highs, with the Nifty50 hovering around its crucial 10,500, following global cues in a holiday-truncated week.

Back home, foreign investors have pulled out Rs 7,300 crore from the country’s stock this month so far, according to reports, primarily due to rising crude prices and widening fiscal deficit. However, they invested Rs 1,356 crore in the debt during the period under review.

10 companies launch issues in December
 
There is a rush to tap funds from qualified institutional placement (QIP) route with 10 companies, including banks, have launched QIP issues in December thus far, the highest in past seven years in terms of number of issues.
 
Total eight companies that include Punjab National Bank (PNB), Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Financial Services, Natco Pharma and Union Bank of India have already raised Rs 11,037 crore via QIPs in the current month. READ FULL REPORT

Welspun Corp rallied over 4% to Rs 142 on the BSE after the company announced that it has received orders for supply of at 124 K MTs pipes. Welspun Corp said that with the addition of these orders, the company has current order book of 1198 K MTs valued at Rs 7400 crore.

Kirloskar Oil Engines hits 52-week high
 
Kirloskar Oil Engines soared 18% to Rs 450, also its 52-week high on the BSE in early morning trade, on reports that the Cummins Group is eying controlling stakes in auto parts & equipment Company.
 
The Cummins Group, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of engines and power generation products, is in talks to acquire a controlling stake in Kirloskar Oil Engines in a deal valued at over $500 million through one of its Indian subsidiaries, Livemint reported quoting two people aware of talks between the companies.
