In the spirit of full disclosure, I have to admit that my first real job was working the late-night shift at a Southern California Jack in the Box fast-food restaurant. While I can't disclose everything that occurred during the course of those late nights, I can say that it was quite a memorable experience.
So, when I saw that Jack in the Box will soon start testing a new combo meal deal that seems clearly aimed at consumers of soon-to-be legal recreational marijuana in California, I was intrigued, to say the least.
According to an announcement on the Merry Jane website (Merry Jane, a media company affiliated with rapper and marijuana activist Snoop Dog) is joining forces with Jack in the Box to launch the new combo meal):
"The new MERRY Munchie Meal will be infused with the most craveable and snackable products that Jack in the Box has to offer, including: Halfsies (½ curly fries, ½ onion rings and all parts delicious), two of the brand's famous Tacos, five Mini Churros, and three Crispy Chicken Strips, plus a drink -- all for a very special price of $4.20."
As pot consumers report, "munchies" -- an insatiable desire to eat, right now -- are a common outcome, and it appears that the Merry Munchie Meal is custom-designed to satisfy that desire. Sadly, however, no brownies are included in the deal.
This new Jack in the Box meal deal is first being tested at three restaurants in Long Beach, California. If it is a hit, then expect to see it appear at a Jack in the Box restaurant near you in the not-too-distant future.

And about that $4.20 price? Again, this is a nod to the marijuana culture that the Merry Munchie Meal is aimed toward. "420" is a code word for the consumption of pot -- either at 4:20 PM, or on April 20 (4/20).
So, whether or not Jack in the Box's Merry Munchie Meal catches on, it appears (as an increasing number of savvy entrepreneurs have realized) that legalized cannabis is here to stay.
