ABU DHABI: The Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi hosted an event to celebrate the 142st birth anniversary of the country’s founder, Quaid Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah, and Christmas Day at the embassy premises on Monday. A number of Pakistani’s Christian community members participated in the event, which was marked inter alia by special prayers.

Addressing the gathering Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE Moazzam Ahmad Khan highlighted that Dec.25 had a special significance as it is the birthday of two great personalities, i.e Jesus Christ and Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah.

Jesus Christ gave the universal message of love and peace and Quaid-e-Azam founded a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent.

Khan also pointed out that the constitution of Pakistan, in line with the Quaid’s vision, enshrines safeguards for all communities living in Pakistan. The government’s policies are geared towards empowering the minority communities to play their role in national life as equal citizens. Moreover, he expressed solidarity with the Pakistani Christian community regarding the recent terrorist attack on a church in Quetta. Lastly, he urged that the best way to pay tribute Quaid-e-Azam is to pursue his teachings in true letter and spirit for making Pakistan a welfare state in essence. Special messages from President Mamnoon Hussain, and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi were read out on the occasion. A cake was cut to mark the event.
