British Frigate Escorts Russian Warship Through North Sea

A British frigate escorted a Russian warship through the North Sea on December 25 after watching it for two days.Royal Navy said HMS St Albans was called on December 23 to monitor Russian warship Admiral Gorshkov as it neared “areas of national interest.”Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson said, “I will not hesitate in defending our waters or tolerate any form of aggression.”Similarly, on Christmas Eve, HMS Tyne escorted a different Russian ship through the English Channel and the North Sea as the holiday season saw an “upsurge in Russian units transiting UK waters,” according to the navy.Earlier in December, the UK warned of Russian threats to internet and communication cables under the sea, BBC reported.
