GURUGRAM: Haryana's largest PWD rest house located near the district court on Railway Road is all set to get inaugurated by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday.
According to official sources, the five-storey rest house will have 100 rooms, including eight VIP suites, one governer suite, 62 officers' rooms and 29 normal rooms.

Built at a cost of Rs 40.79 crore, the rest house spreads over an area of 4.7 acres of land and has a parking arrangement for 200 cars in the basement.

PWD officials informed TOI that the new building has four times more rooms in comparison with previous largest rest house located in Rohtak that had 24 rooms. The new building is going to be energy efficient as solar panels will be fitted on the roof and near the parking areas to generate around 220KW of electricity to fulfil the need of the building.

Considering the VIP movement, the building will have two entrances, one from Sohna road as well as Civil Lines area.

On Monday, PWD minister Rao Narbir Singh inspected the rest house and said that "Gurgaon is known as a Millennium City and the need for a high-end rest house was being felt for a long time here. Now, more ministers and bureaucrats will be able to visit the city and be part of the planning and execution of the new ventures that Gurgaon needs".

The construction of the rest house began in October 2015.
