Accustomed of fetching anything for its party supremo Lalu Prasad at his half-delivered words, Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) appeared rattled with its leaders not being allowed to meet Lalu on Sunday by Hotwar jail officials who refused to violate the jail manual for any prisoner. Though party leaders were given access to Lalu soon after the jail opened on Monday for visitors, the party demanded special treatment for its national president citing him being not a normal prisoner.
The party which organised a press conference in its state office on Monday continued crying political vendetta which left Lalu spending his days in Birsa Munda Central Jail (Hotwar) and counting days until January 3 when quantum of punishment for him in a fodder scam case is to be delivered.
Meanwhile, the jail authorities allowed five visitors among crowd of supporters who gathered to see Lalu Prasad. Those who could meet Lalu for not more than 15 minutes each included former Jharkhand Minister and State RJD President Annapurna Devi, Awadh Bihari, Ranvijay Prasad, Bhola Prasad and Yadav’s lawyer Prabhat Kumar.
“Everyone knows that Yadav is a strong leader, mass leader, leader of the poor, dalits, downtrodden and backward classes of society. He has done great works for them. All what is happening with him is conspiracy of ruling BJP, RSS and forces like these which are fearful of stature of our leader,” said RJD MP and Jharkhand RJD Incharge Jaiprakash Narayan Yadav on Monday.
He also accused the (Union) government of misusing Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to suppress its political rivals. “The BJP is trying to suppress strong leaders coming from backward class like ours, this is why he was convicted. But we shall go to superior courts in search of justice and we will get it from there,” said Jaiprakash Narayan Yadav where Jharkhand RJD President Annapurna Devi, Manoj Pandey and many other leaders were also present.
Notably, over 100 RJD leaders and supporters from Bihar and Jharkhand led by noted RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh and others demonstrated outside Jail at Hotwar on Sunday for being denied to see Lalu. After all their efforts to see Lalu on Sunday against jail manual failed, they returned back.
Right since Lalu was convicted on Saturday afternoon last week, RJD has kept on alleging BJP of playing power game with its President. However, party leaders present in press conference on the day couldn’t reply as to how much sure they were to get justice from superior courts, and what compelled them to consider justice delivered in Special Court was actually injustice.
