UDAIPUR: A minor girl, who had eloped with a youth from Bhinder town last week, was traced by the police in Pune. Police brought back the girl and the youth to Bhinder on Sunday night and handed over the minor to her parents.
The accused Shoaib, son of Rais Mohammad, was produced before the court on Monday that sent him to police custody.
Situation had worsened in Bhinder of Vallabhnagar block of the district after the minor girl had gone missing with the boy who hailed from another community. Several Hindu organizations had taken out a rally to protest over the minor's elopement and called for a bandh demanding arrest of the boy.
Seeing the urgency of situation, Udaipur SP Rajendra Prasad Goyal constituted three teams that raided various places to search the eloping couple. Teams had been sent to Gujarat and Maharashtra to look for them and their mobile phones were put on trace to find their location. They both were found from a lodge and brought back on Sunday night. "We have handed over the girl's custody to her parents while the boy was produced before the court and given in a day's police remand. We will find out details like who helped them to elope, the places they had stayed during the period" Himanshu Singh Rajawat, SHO Bhinder police station told TOI.
Since the minor is a Dalit, the case has been registered under sections 363, 366 of the IPC and relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and Tribes ( Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
