JAIPUR: Cold wave conditions revived in the state on Monday when majority of the places witnessed a dip of almost 4 degrees Celsius in day and night temperatures. Churu remained coldest in the state where a minimum temperature of 5 degrees Celsius was recorded.
Attributing the dip in the mercury to the active northerly winds and vanishing of the western disturbances Jaipur Met office said that cold wave conditions will further aggravate in the state in the next 24 hours.
Jaipurites woke up to a comparatively chilly morning as a minimum temperature of 10.3 degrees Celsius was recorded. The roads gave an empty look in the morning when people confined themselves to their homes. Dip in the mercury was witnessed in Jaipur after a gap of almost 5 days as earlier the mercury took an upward swing. Early morning fog and mist also affected air, road and rail traffic in the state. At least half-a-dozen early morning trains were delayed while at least four early morning flights took off late. The traffic on the highways connecting Jaipur to Agra, Jaipur to
Ajmer and Jaipur to Delhi was chaotic as buses were taking extra time due to poor visibility in the morning. Similar conditions prevailed at the districts including
Sriganganagar, Churu and
Bikaner where dense fog was witnessed in the morning.
Churu was followed by Sriganganagar where a minimum temperature of 10.4 degrees Celsius was recorded,
Pilani 6.1, Udaipur 7.8, Jodhpur 8.6, Bikaner 8.7, Ajmer 9.7, Jaisalmer 9.8, Kota 10.1 and in Barmer a minimum temperature of 12.5 degrees Celsius was recorded.
In its forecast Jaipur Met office said that cold wave conditions will further aggravate in the state in the next 24 hours. At the places including Sriganganagar, Bikaner and Churu a minimum temperature on or below 5 degrees Celsius.
