NEW DELHI:
Congress slammed Pakistan for across-the-glass-wall meeting it allowed between
Kulbhushan Jadhav and his wife and mother, saying it was an uncivilised move on the part of the neighbouring country.
AICC spokesman
Manish Tewari said, "It is unfortunate that the government of Pakistan was so cussed about the meeting, it was not as if the meeting was taking place in jail. It would have been far more appropriate if it was conducted in a more civilised and decorous manner whereby Jadhav's wife and mother were at least accorded the courtesy of a little more intimate meeting than the sanitised, clinical and controlled manner in which the entire process played itself out."
Congress MP
Shashi Tharoor called the meeting "a step forward" but slammed Pakistan for showing "unhumanitarian spirit". He said, "After 21 to 22 months they (Pakistan) arrested that poor man and finally somebody has been able to see him. So to that degree, it is a step forward. On the other hand, the way in which it all unfolded was deeply unsatisfactory." He added, "I think that was emotional but especially painful for them, since the man is officially sentenced to death. They may never see him alive again. In that sense, it was very disappointingly unhumanitarian spirit in which it was conducted."
