‘I’m shocked at how petty Ch 10 have been’

THE former executive producer of Studio 10, who was sacked last month, was "shocked" to discover that he'd been edited out of the Christmas special which aired this morning.

Rob McKnight had been with the Channel 10 show since it launched back in November 2013 but was let go last month.

Prior to being fired, McKnight appeared in some prerecorded some segments for the Studio 10 Christmas Special, but when he watched the episode this morning he realised he'd been removed from the program.

"Oh wow! Just watching the @Studio10au Xmas special to see I've been cut out of the music clips," McKnight tweeted.

"I'm shocked at how petty @channelten have been through this whole thing! Wonder if the segment with my kids has been dropped (they were downstairs that day while I was being fired)"

News.com.au understands McKnight's children were featured in a segment that focused on fun activities for kids on Christmas day, but that segement was dropped from the show altogether.

"Yep, kids were dropped from the show," McKnight also tweeted this morning. "Just remember that when @channelten try to sell themselves as the 'family' network'."

McKnight announced his departure from the network on November 20 on Twitter, writing, "Sad to say I no longer work @channelten. It's been a difficult 4.5 years with a lot of stress (and I can handle stress ... most of the time). Time to open a coffee shop!"

He also sent a brutally honest email to Studio 10 staff in which he said he was no longer considered "Ten material" and refused to say he had resigned instead of being sacked.

"I always knew my passion would be my downfall and today that day has come," he wrote in the email, obtained by news.com.au.

"It has been an extraordinarily hard 4.5 years where I have worked myself into the ground and I am paying the price for that.

"Recently, I was very close to a breakdown (let's be honest, I was going through a breakdown) which led to my 4 weeks off. While that was a good opportunity to recharge, the ongoing pace of our under resourced show has shown the strains once again.

"Unfortunately I am not TEN material. I have been informed my services are no longer required. I am not going to spin some BS line that I resigned, I've always been a pretty straight up guy.

"I am sad but not bitter. I wish Studio 10 and everyone who works on it all the very best."

As reported by the Daily Telegraph in December, McKnight plans to sue Channel Ten for breach of contract. Papers are expected to be filed in the new year.
