EastEnders spoilers: Tanya Branning makes shock Christmas return - but there’s bad news
EASTENDERS fans were spoilt with a true Christmas roller coaster tonight which saw the return of Tanya Branning.
The fan favourite stormed back into Albert Square to retrieve her daughters Abi (played by Lorna Fitzgerald) and Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), loaded with all of Max’s (Jake Wood) secrets.
The Christmas chaos saw Tanya (Jo Joyner) finally reveal that Max killed Steven Beale (Aaron Sidwell), prompting Abi and Lauren to turn their back on their father for good.
However, when Max stood on the Queen Vic rooftop, poising himself to jump off, Abi and Lauren took drastic action.
The nail-biting twist saw Abi and Lauren fall to their departure from the BBC soap while trying to save Max - and bosses have confirmed there will be a death rocking Walford over the Christmas period.

As viewers get to grips with the catastrophic events of the 60-minute special, the question on everyone’s lips remains: Is Tanya back for good?
Sadly, it seems unlikely as new showrunner John Yorke revealed to press including Express.co.uk, they struggled to hold actress Jo Joyner down.
“She’s so busy doing other stuff, that’s why we were always filming at 2am because it was the only time when she was free,” he said. “It was crazy to film.”

Though, the 40-year-old couldn’t resist returning to her rightful home for such a spectacular storyline.
“She was nervous about coming back,” John continued. “Simon [Ashdown] pitched her the story and I was with her the other week and she said, ‘As soon as Simon pitched me the storyline I knew I had to be there’.
“She’s their mum so it was really special to all of them.”
