Suicide attack in Kabul leaves five dead

An explosion rocked Kabul city earlier today with preliminary reports indicating a suicide attack has taken place close to a security compound.

Security sources are saying the incident has taken place in Shash Darak area of the city.

A spokesman for the ministry of interior Najib Danish confirmed that five people were killed and a number of others were wounded in the suicide attack in Shash Darak area of the city.

Eyewitnesses in the area had earlier said the explosion was triggered by a suicide attack close to a compound belonging to the intelligence agency.

The ministry of public health officials had earlier said at least three people were killed in the explosion and a number of others have sustained injuries.

No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
