Doctor Who Christmas Special
BBC America, Monday, 9 ET/PT
For many fans, the Doctor Who Christmas special is as much a tradition as turkey and presents. This year's episode is particularly significant, because Peter Capaldi, the long-running sci-fi series' 12th Doctor, departs, and Jodie Whittaker, the first woman to take on the role, is introduced. The episode features a third Doctor, David Bradley (Game of Thrones) as the very first version of the Time Lord, originally portrayed by William Hartnell, who died in 1975. Bradley played Hartnell in the 2013 TV movie, An Adventure in Space and Time, about the creation of Doctor Who in the 1960s.
