EXETER, R.I. – The Rhode Island State Police charged two people on Saturday night with three counts of cruelty to or neglect of a child, the department reported Sunday morning on its website.
The two people charged are Alexis Perez, 24, and Kiallah Lindo, 24, both of 52 Scenic Way, in Exeter.
The state police said the arrests were “the result of a barracks investigation,” although spokeswoman Laura Meade Kirk declined to give any further information on Sunday. She referred The Providence Journal to the Department of Children, Youth and Families, and she said a DCYF investigation had begun in October.
The DCYF supervisor of Child Protective Services, Barry Noel, returned a phone call to The Providence Journal on Christmas but declined to answer any questions and referred all questions about the matter to the agency’s “media person," whom he said he would call.
