And with the prestige of being the No.1 stopper in the world comes interest from the biggest clubs.

The Manchester United star has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent seasons.

De Gea, 27, nearly joined the Spanish champions in 2015 but a late fax stopped the move.

However, Real will get their man and the Spain international will return to his homeland.

De Gea may be playing under the Special One at Old Trafford but Jose Mourinho’s defensive and negative tactics will push his star towards the exit.

The former Chelsea boss’ childish demeanour and frequent public criticism of his players is enough to tempt De Gea to return home.

Mourinho will be powerless in stopping his star man from cementing his spot as the best goalkeeper in the world alongside fellow Galactico’s at the Bernabeu.

De Gea will have a huge chance to win the Champions League, more so than at United, as well as taking part in the annual La Liga battle with Barcelona.

The Spain star is guaranteed to be first choice under Zinedine Zidane, with Keylor Navas expected to leave the Bernabeu.

Another reason for De Gea being willing to swap United for Real is the Red Devils’ arch-rivals Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s men, who are unbeaten in the Premier League this season, look set to compete on all four fronts this time out.

GETTY

Mourinho, who is usually ahead of his opponent when it comes to mind games, is losing the battle to his nemesis Guardiola.

City will dominate in England for years to come, making it a no-brainer for De Gea to take the easy route out and join Real.

The guaranteed trophies, top wages and honour of playing for Real is just too good for De Gea to turn down.

United fans must enjoy it while it lasts, their boasting of having the best goalkeeper in the world will be over next summer.
