Christmas Spirits: Politicians reveal their top festive tipples – including boring Corbyn
CHRISTMAS is a time for festive joy for politicians as well as their constituents – but what will the Prime Minister, Theresa May and Jacob Rees-Mogg be drinking today?
Politicians up and down the country are getting into the Christmas spirit with a tipple or two as they head back to their constituencies from Westminster.
The Prime Minister was among senior politicians who picked a hard drink as her top choice for the holiday.
She revealed she enjoys a glass of Penderyn, distilled in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons, on "those (hopefully) quiet winter evenings over the holidays".
Green Leader Caroline Lucas said she will be enjoying the “light refreshment” of a Brighton gin and tonic, while Lib Dem leader Vince Cable curls up with “a rum and coke while watching the Strictly Xmas Special” after spending the morning with young people in care.

But some appear to have decided to keep the seasonal cheer to a minimum.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, who very rarely drinks, refused to make an exception for the holiday.
He said: “Like most days, I drink apple juice.

“But on Christmas Day, I make sure it’s a particularly good one.”
However a Christmas tipple is not the only tradition Mr Corbyn eschews.
The emboldened socialist does most of his celebrating on Christmas Eve with his wife Laura as is the norm in her home country, Mexico.

Meanwhile rising Star of the Conservative party Jacob Rees-Mogg also decided a non-alcoholic beverage would be his drink of choice, instead embracing “a cup of hot chocolate on returning from Midnight Mass."
Lib Dem deputy leader Jo Swinson said she would be avoiding alcohol as she is currently expecting.
She told Politico: ”I’ll be dreaming of prosecco but, being pregnant, I'll have the driest Christmas for years, except for 2013 when I was trying to figure out how to look after a three-day-old baby”.
