New Delhi: Indian boxer Vijender Singh recently registered his tenth consecutive win after becoming pro in 2015. Vijender, who is unbeaten thus far, defeated Ghana’s Ernest Amuzu to retain the WBO Asia Pacific and WBO Oriental Super middleweight titles. After his win, the Indian boxing star said that he is now eyeing Commonwealth and World Championship title.

Vijender also said that the fight between him and the British-Pakistani boxer can be arranged despite being in different weight categories. “He has boasted that he has two world titles, now I too have two world titles, so we should have a fight. Despite having different weight categories the bout can be arranged. We have seen such bouts having boxers of different weight categories,” said Vijender.

However, Amir, on the other hand, has said that Vijender is not yet ready for the fight. Responding to a Twitter user, Chinmay Bhogle, who asked Amir about a possible fight between him and the Indian, the British boxer replied, “He’s (Vijender) not ready.”

Here’s the Twitter conversation:

Amir, who is a silver medalist at the Athens Olympics, has won 31 out of 35 professional games. The boxer, however, has been inactive since May 2016.

Interestingly, earlier this year Amir was of the same opinion and believed that Vijender has a long way to go before he fights him. “I’ve done what Vijender wants to do; his dream is to achieve what I have achieved. He is a good fighter, but he is junior to me. He has a long way to go before he fights me,” Amir was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.
