Brand Bengaluru is building the city’s image on an international stage with its new logo. The city received its new logo on Sunday – the tagline ‘Bengaluru-Be U’ (be you). The logo which was selected from 1,350 entries aims to show the city’s cosmopolitan culture. It shows the city’s 480-year history and futuristic outlook. The logo which is in colours of red and white is an initiative of tourism department. The IT-BT and tourism minister Priyank Kharge said the logo would enhance tourism in Karnataka. The tourism minister said the logo would help in the city’s branding and show its culture and tradition better.

Priyank Kharge was quoted as saying, “We are the world’s most dynamic city and have a rich heritage which people are forgetting. So the idea is to brand Bengaluru with its history, culture, art and its cuisines and portray this as a global brand.” The logo was launched during an open street festival, Bengaluru Habba in front state assembly structure-Vidhan Sabha. Various performances including western music to Indian traditional dance forms, stalls and food trucks. A creative group, Nammur, designed the logo.
Venkatesh, a member of Nammur said, “The concept is ‘Be & You, anybody can be yourself in Bengaluru. We have been working on this logo for nearly one year and we were interviewed for this many times to describe how it will take city to next level.” In the past years, Bengaluru has made it to international headlines for heavy traffic, frothing lakes and garbage management problems. The logo is government’s new attempt to rebrand itself.
