Pune: The Government Railway Police (GRP) officers on Monday saved the life of a passenger who fell on the tracks while trying to alight from a running train at the Pune railway station.

Inspector Manoj Khandale and constable Sachin Rathod were on patrolling the platform number one when Daund-Pune local train arrived on the platform. It left towards the railway yard around 10.45pm. "Mahadev Yewale had mistakenly boarded the train. As soon as he realized his mistake, Yewale jumped off the train thinking he would land on the platform," police said.

However, he lost balance and fell in between the tracks and the train. "Khandale and Rathod spotted him and grabbed his hands. They pulled him out as the train picked up speed," police added.

Yewale hails from Baramati.
