DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said strict security measures have been taken in and around the capital on the occasion of Christmas Day.
He made the remark to reporters while visiting the Church in city’s Tejgaon area on Monday morning (Dec 25).
The Christian community across the country is celebrating the holy Christmas on Monday (December 25) commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ amid festivity and religious fervor.
DMP commissioner said the government has zero tolerance policy in case of militancy and terrorism. Christmas is a religious festival and Bangladesh is country of religious harmony. Whoever tries to hamper that harmony will be dealt with strong counter measure.
“Religion might differ for man to man but festival is for all. It is the state’s duty to secure its citizens. Moreover, CCTV cameras have been installed at every Church in Dhaka. Everyone will have to go through a search team in front of the entrance and Law enforcing members in civil dress have taken position inside the church.”
