NOIDA: The buyers of
Urbtech NPX Towers, Sector 153, a commercial project, held a victory celebration at the
Arun Vihar club, Sector 29 on Sunday as the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum (NCDRC) had admitted their petition against the builder. The first hearing of the case is on Februray 15.
The NCDRC had initially rejected the petition submitted by
NPX Tower Owners Association. The buyers then filed an appeal in the Supreme Court in which they have sued the promoter on 24 points of violations of UP Apartment Act 2010 ranging from FAR misappropriation to maintenance norms. The Supreme Court disposed of the case on September 4, and directed the NCDRC to give the buyers a fair hearing. The NCDRC admitted the case for hearing on November 7.
"We are celebrating the legal victory this Christmas. It has been a long drawn legal battle for us to get validation of our consumer rights,"
Pankaj Nagalia, a buyer stated.
However, Arun Ghai, chairman, Urbtech NPX said, "Of the 400 plus buyers, over 130 have already got their offices registered. We have been inviting all these buyers to come and get their apartments registered, but they are withholding their registration; we are awaiting a fair resolution from the court as well."
