A 23-year-old Pontiac man was shot in both legs late Christmas Eve after an altercation but has been "hesitant" to provide the police details on what happens, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said Monday.
The shooting took place about 8:35 p.m. at the 100 block of North Edith, at the Woodland Heights apartments, which are south of M-59 and west of Martin Luther. Oakland County deputy sheriffs arrived on the report that a man had been shot. They found the victim inside, gunshot wounds to both legs, and gave him aid until medics arrived to relieve them.
The victim has told police little about what happened. Witnesses tell police that the victim "had gotten into a physical altercation with an unidentified black male" in the parking lot before being shot. The suspect is believed to have driven a red Chevy Cruze.
The victim's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Despite the victim's hesitance, there is a $1,000 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect, via Crime Stoppers of Michigan. Tipsters who call Crime Stoppers remain anonymous, even as they receive their awards. Calls come into a call center in Windsor that the organization says does not have caller ID. Crime Stoppers of Michigan can be reached at 800-SPEAK-UP.
