Proving the course of true love never did run smooth, the ending of celebrity marriages and relationships has continued to dominate the headlines in 2017.

Don't worry if you've found it hard to keep up with the make-ups and break-ups of the showbiz world, because Daily Star Online has got you covered.

Melanie Brown, 42, filed for divorce from her husband of ten years Stephen Belafonte, 42, in March, and it wasn't long before the proceedings turned ugly.

The Spice Girl — who secured a temporary restraining order against her spouse — accused the Hollywood producer of physically and emotionally abusing her throughout their marriage.

Belafonte, who shares six-year-old daughter Madison with Brown, vehemently denied the claims.

Amid reports there were sex tapes of the couple engaging in threesomes, Mel went to court to obtain an order banning her estranged husband from distributing any explicit footage of her.

Last month, the former couple reached a settlement in the domestic violence case and are said to be negotiating a custody agreement.

The former Big Brother presenter, who often gushed about her partner in interviews, confirmed the sad news.

In a statement released via her spokesperson, she said: "I am very sad to say that Matthew and I have separated.

"Our amazing children are our number one priority, above everything else so therefore we ask for as much space and respect from the media as possible while our family goes through this difficult time."

Davina and Matthew are parents to Holly, 16, Tilly, 14, and Chester, 11.

Former Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie — real name Stacy Ferguson — revived her solo music career this year, with the release of her hotly-anticipated album Double Dutchess.

Amid her comeback, the 42-year-old and her husband of eight years Josh Duhamel, 44, announced they had split.

In a joint statement released in September, the couple — who share four-year-old son Axl — said: "With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year.

"To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family."

Some weeks later, Fergie became emotional about the split during an interview on US daytime programme The Wendy Williams Show.

Tearing up, the mum-of-one confessed: "It wasn't my plan. I wanted to stay married forever."

Fans were stunned in August when actors Anna Faris, 41, and Chris Pratt, 38, announced they were legally separating after eight years of marriage.

In a candid statement posted to Pratt's social media profiles, the Jurassic Park star said: "Anna and I are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried hard for a long time, and we're really disappointed."

Making reference to their four-year-old boy Jack, Chris continued: "Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward."

Earlier this month, Anna was pictured viewing houses with her rumoured boyfriend, cinematographer Michael Barrett, 47.

STRICTLY CURSE: Louise and Jamie Redknapp are on a break following her stint on the BBC show

The Redknapps are one of many celeb couples to have seemingly fallen victim to the dreaded Strictly curse.

Shortly after Louise, 43, appeared on the BBC One dance show in 2016, rumours began to circulate that her and Jamie's 19-year marriage was on the rocks.

After months of speculation, the former Eternal singer revealed earlier this year that they are taking time apart and living separately.

Louise — who has revived her singing career with a successful stint in Cabaret — revealed the big move was something she needed to do for herself.

In a candid interview with Stella magazine, the mum-of-two said of 44-year-old Jamie: "It's so hard because I love him. He's an amazing man and we've had 20 good years together. I know he's trying to understand that I do need to do this.

"People might look at me and think I've got everything, but a sweeping staircase and designer handbag doesn't really do it for me."

Selena Gomez caused a stir in early 2017 when she confirmed her relationship with singer The Weeknd — real name Abel Tesfaye — who had recently split from Bella Hadid, 21.

The couple put on an affectionate display, creating a paparazzi storm during a romantic break to Europe.

Selena, 25, and The Weeknd, 27, cemented their golden couple status when they walked the red carpet at New York's Met Gala together in May.

But it would appear their bliss wasn't destined to last, as they called time on their relationship in October.

Just weeks later, Selena was pictured enjoying several outings with her on/off teen sweetheart Justin Bieber, 23.

The pair seemingly confirmed their reunited state when they shared a tender kiss during a hockey game.

Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor boasted one of the longest marriages in Hollywood, having been man and wife for 17 years.

However, in May the couple released a joint statement revealing they had decided to part ways.

The actors said: "With tremendous love and respect for each other, and the 18 years we spent together as a couple, we have made the decision to separate.

"Our priority will continue to be raising our children as devoted parents and the closest of friends. We kindly ask that the media respect our privacy at this time."

Ben, 51, and Christine, 45, share daughter Ella Olivia and son Quinlin Dempsey.

Amir Khan and Faryal Makhdoom

Amir Khan,31, and Faryal Makhdoom, 26, endured the mother of all public splits earlier this year, after months of feuding within their family.

Far from dealing with their problems in private, the couple aired their dirty — and we do mean filthy — laundry in public.

In a spectacular turn of events, Khan took to Twitter and accused Faryal of cheating on him with fellow boxer Anthony Joshua, 28.

Both Makhdoom and Joshua vehemently denied the claims.

In the midst of the online dispute, Faryal revealed she was pregnant with her and Khan's second child.

The couple reunited last month, ahead of Amir entering the I'm A Celeb jungle.

Upon leaving the show, Khan spoke of his marital strife, telling The Sun: "I've learned my lesson. It was a wake-up call for us both and it will only make us stronger. I think we will be married forever."

However, the duo parted ways a few weeks ago, ending their year-long relationship for good.
