President Maithripala Sirisena issuing a communique, has encapsulated within it, his christmas message.
The message reads ”Today, as the human race faces unprecedented challenges, the Christian belief undoubtedly proves to be a guiding star for us to find enduring solutions.”
The message goes on to say that it is when one starts to love oneself and then spread that love and kindness towards others, humanity will ultimately pave the way for lasting peace and reconciliation.
President Maithripala Sirisena’s Christmas message concludes with ”Overcoming the multitude of challenges that threaten humanity can only be achieved through such a collective journey”
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe issuing a message to mark Christmas says, “The spirit of Christmas is shared universally and is a time to spread the goodwill, love and joy that the birth of Christ brings.”
”Birth unites the world in a strong bond of compassion, warmth and love for mankind. Let us embrace the spirit of fellowship renewd through the birth of Jesus Christ as a theme that will truly inspire all of us, to reflect on the message of peace and love he brought to the world.”
The message further adds that today, we live in a society that seeks freedom from tyranny and injustice, stigma and prejudice. One in which people will be free from religious and ethnic strife, able to live together in harmony and a spirit of tolerance.
