According to sources, Senthil Raj, the dentist, was living with his son in the city after he was separated from his wife Surekha. It is said that Sanjeev (32), a colleague of Surekha, was also a close friend of her. On Saturday night, Sanjeev arranged the party along with his friends and booked five rooms at the hotel. He invited both Senthil Raj and Surekha.
"After 10 pm, women in the group retired to their rooms, while the men were having drinks in another room. As they started joking at each other, Sanjeev and Senthil began an argument over Surekha. All of a sudden, in a fit of rage, Senthil toook a a kitchen knife and stabbed Sanjeev in his chest and stomach," sources said.
Other friends took Sanjeev to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Though Senthil fled the spot and reached Chennai, a police team arrested him. Sanjeev, a resident of Udumalpet, was working and staying in Chennai.
