ABU DHABI: The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has warned that fog is expected to continue till Wednesday, urging all motorists and road users to exercise caution and follow traffic instructions during the fog.

It expects the lowest level of visibility in some areas. Visibility will be 50-100m in most of the coastal and inland areas in the country, in the wee hours.

Various part of the country continued witnessing thick fog on Sunday that led to a decline in the horizontal visibility to less than 100 meters. The fog gradually spread to the early morning on different parts of the country and continued until 10:30am, according to the NCM.

The centre explained that fog forms when there is a difference between air temperature and dew point. Furthermore, the presence of air altitude in the upper atmosphere and surface layers, led the relative humidity to increase to 100 per cent in some areas.

It has noted that the weather on Monday and Tuesday will be sunny to partly cloudy to hazy at times. The winds will be light to moderate in general. The relative humidity may increase during the night and early morning along the inland and coastal parts with fog formation. The sea will be mild in general in the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, the NCM said.

It further expects that the maximum temperatures on Monday will be in the range of 23-29˚C, 22-27˚C and 14-20˚C in the inland, coastal and mountainous areas respectively.
