New Delhi, Dec 25: A team of Delhi Police Crime Branch on Saturday arrested the infamous high-class pimp Geeta Arora alias Sonu Punjaban for forcing a 16-year-old girl into prostitution in 2014. Sonu Punjaban is known for immoral trafficking, sale, rape and torturing for prostitution minor girls at many places in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. She has now been booked under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
“Sonu Punjaban was arrested on Saturday after she was interrogated by a team heading by ACP Sandeep Lamba in Cyber Cell office of the Crime Branch,” a senior police officer told IANS. The minor victim was kidnapped in 2009 when she was 12 years old. A case under sections of rape, kidnap and the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) was registered by family members of the teenager in Najafgarh.
The victim was allegedly trafficked, tortured, drugged, and forced into prostitution by Sonu Punjaban. “The victim came to Najafgarh police station by herself in 2014 and complained against Sonu Punjaban and her pimps,” the officer said. However, the victim ran away before the cops could produce him before the court. She was once traced by the cops, but again she managed to flee, believing that she will be killed by the pimp, reports India Today.
The cops managed to locate her location in Delhi. She was counselled and was assured that the police will help her, after which she revealed what happened to her after the abduction. “She was tortured and was sold to more than 12 persons. She was taken to Lucknow, Rohtak and other places. She was forced into prostitution where she was kept starved too,” an official was quoted as saying.
“She was then bought by Sonu Punjaban. Soon after she met her, Sonu gave her a makeover. She also taught her basic English only to impress the clients. They used to drug her before sending her to the clients,” the police said quoting the victim. Sonu Punjaban was involved in 5 cases previously which include cases under the stringent MCOCA, the POCSO, murder and other crimes in Delhi and Haryana.
