NAGPUR: Twinkle Foundation, a city based
NGO recently celebrated one year of establishment through an event 'Pankh' organized at Traffic Park, Dharampeth. Deputy Commissioner of
Police (DCP) Shweta Khedkar, Assistant Police Inspector (API) Vishal Mane, Bharosa Cell officer Shubhda Sankhe, Police Inspector Hemant Kharabe and API Amita Jaipurkar were actively involved in the function.
The NGO has been actively engaged in developing the lives of underprivileged and specially-abled children and has rescued 21 children till date. They usually focus on children begging at traffic signals and have been working in line with the Commissioner of Police K. Venkatesham's campaign 'Say no to child beggars'.
The programme was initiated with a performance by the children from Blind Relief Association. Children from Shradhanand orphanage also displayed their talent through a dance performance. The special segments of the event included a ramp walk by visually impaired children holding cyber safety awareness placards. The mentor of Twinkle Foundation Nityanand Tiwari explained how cyber awareness is an integral part in today's time.
The president of the foundation Yash Gaurkhede told TOI, "Pankh is a representation of a thought, of how every child is special irrespective of their background or disability, symbolizing empowerment."
