RAJKOT: Rajkot police have nabbed four accused including a minor involved in a robbery of nearly 240 gram gold ornaments and eight thousand cash from Bombay Housing Society on
Sadhu Vasvani Road. Two accused are still absconding.
The police also recovered nearly 140 gram gold ornaments from the gang. The gang had robbed a teacher's family at gun point in wee hours of Friday.
The police have also recovered three country-made pistols with 12 cartridge, six knives, two pipes, one gas cutter and one gas cylinder. Joint commissioner of police (JCP) D.S.
Bhatt told media persons that "the gang has confessed to have committed 26 crimes in the recent past out of that 14 crimes were committed in
Rajkot city."
Police arrested Jogendrasinh Mahendrasinh Rathod, Gurmukhsinh Mahendrasinh Rathod and Harvindersing Dayasinh Duduani on Sunday night. All the accused are family members and residents of Kotharia Road, Rajkot. According to police, the accused are the natives of
Panchmahal district and living in Rajkot for the last six-seven years on rent.
"The accused went underground after the loot, but they were in Rajkot city and caught from their residence. We have installed CCTVs across the city that have helped us in find the accused their route," Bhatt said. Police found a Wagon R car abandoned near Kotharia solvent which was used in robbery. The gang was expert in using the stolen car, with Wagon R car being the favourite.
Five unidentified men robbed a teacher's family of four of gold jewellery and cash worth Rs 3.68 lakh at gun point at their residence in Bombay Housing Society on Sadhu Vasvani Road on Friday morning. They locked the victims inside their house and fled in a car.
According to the police, the accused did complete homework before executing the plan and it was well aware of the police's crime investigation line. It chose the roads where cameras are not installed and did not carry the mobile phone at the time of robbery.
