Update - Protest launched by Balapitiya boat operators ends 
Several boat operators engaged in a protest under the Madu Ganga bridge in Balapitiya this morning(25).
The protestors blocked the river preventing tourists from entering the area.
The protest was carried out demanding the payment per boat trip be increased.
A senior police officer arrived at the scene and promised the protestors that a discussion would be scheduled with the boat owners.
Subsequently, the strike was called off.
