Be aware of mental heath of children: Dy CM to teachers

Deputy Chief Minister Dr Dinesh Sharma said that teachers should be aware of the mental health of the students and any aberration should be reported to the parents without fail.

“As the digital explosion is shrinking the world children are now exposed to internet games. The biggest example is Blue Whale game where the child gets so involved in the game that ultimately he commits suicide,” Dr Sharma said here on Sunday.

He said that children have an impressionable mind. They gets swayed by the guile of the administrator and they inadvertently tell their personal information to the administrator which is misused. “This child plays in the hands of the administrator. Here come the role of teacher. If finds something amiss in the child he should immediately inform the parents,” Dr Sharma said.

He said that parents should also keep an eye on the activities of the students. They should know what game their child is playing on the computer and what adverse impact that game can have on the psyche of the child. They should also see whether the body of the child has abnormal injury marks. If these marks are there, it is then a worrying sign, he said.

“The parents should check the call details and child’s involvement in different WhatsApp group. They should also look into the search history. A regular check also keeps the child alert. He would be knowing that parents check his activities. The chance of that child going astray is then very less, he said.

He asked students to be very attentive in their classes. “You should have an aim in your life. Focus on the road map that takes you to that target. Be focused and work hard. The success will be yours,” he said.
