Match of the Day panel BLAST Liverpool for bright orange kit worn against Arsenal

LIVERPOOL have been blasted by the Match of the Day panel for the orange kit they wore in Friday’s draw at Arsenal.

Jurgen Klopp’s side stretched their unbeaten run to 13 games in all competitions as they shared the spoils in an entertaining 3-3 draw at the Emirates.

The Reds raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Philippe Coutinho and Mohamed Salah either side of half-time but they were pegged back and found themselves trailing when Arsenal bagged three goals in the space of five second-half minutes.

Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino’s deflected effort levelled the scores, meaning Liverpool remain one point ahead of the Gunners in the Premier League table.

But despite end-to-end action on the pitch, the post-match talking points revolved around Liverpool’s fluorescent shirts.

“You never know what you’re going to get with Liverpool”

They normally wear a green and white strip for away games but they sported a bright orange number against Arsenal and the Match of the Day team were less than impressed.

Presenter Gary Lineker was lost for words over Liverpool’s unpredictable performance, before suggesting that pundit Danny Murphy hated the kit.

“You never know what you’re going to get with Liverpool,” he said.

“So good for so long and then woah.

“What is wrong with them, apart from playing in orange, which you don’t like.”

Mesut Ozil GETTY

Murphy agreed with his colleague as he replied: “Yeah, true.”

The draw leaves Liverpool fourth in the table, now a huge 17 points behind runaway leaders Manchester City.

Both sides return to action this week as part of a busy run of fixtures over the festive period.

Liverpool host struggling Swansea on Boxing Day before Arsenal travel to Crystal Palace two days later.
