"The government headed by prime minister Narendra Modi has been taking a lot of measures with the motto 'perform, reform and transform'. We are transforming India into a digitally empowered country, ensuring that the gap between digital haves and digital have nots is bridged," he said.
"As a part of this we came up with an idea of starting BPOs in small towns of this country. About 23 BPOs are planned in Tamil Nadu and 16 of them have become operational already," he said.
Stating that Madurai, Tiruppattur, Kotakuppam, Coimbatore, Mayiladuthurai, Ranipet, Tiruchirapalli were among theĀ places where the BPOs have become functional, he said these BPOs have provided employment opportunities to more than 400 people, including over 200 women employees.
"Common Service Centres have been planned across 12,000 gram panchayats in the state and about 9000 have already become operational. These service centres offer services like providingĀ Aadhar Card, delivering forms for organisations like IGNOU," he said.
He also said that about four lakh crore rupees were given to eight lakh Indians under the Mudra Scheme with a motive of promoting entrepreneurship and starting own business ventures.
