Pakistan- Private schools threaten KP govt to expel poor students if dues not paid

(MENAFN - Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: The private schools of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have threatened to expel all the students admitted under Iqra Rozatul Atfal Voucher Scheme if the provincial government did not pay their pending dues.

The principals and owners of private schools under the banner of All Private Schools Association held a protest demonstration in this regard in Peshawar on Saturday and chanted slogans against the provincial government. They said about 30,000 deserving students are enrolled in different private schools of Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Swat and Dera Ismail Khan under the scheme. They said the government pays Rs500 for each primary student and Rs600 for middle level students to private schools under this scheme. They said the fee of not a single student has been paid to any school during the last one year. They said they will be left with no option but to expel all these students from schools if their dues were not paid within 45 days.

The KP government had launched Iqra Rozatul Atfal scheme in five districts in 2015 for students of such areas where there were no government schools. The students also get free of cost uniforms and books under this scheme.
