Jaipur: The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has decided to revise the design of a small section of the proposed
elevated road between Ambedkar Circle and Sodala.
After considering the space crunch on the proposed road, the JDA has decided to increase the width of the elevated road in the select stretch. The civic body has redesigned six segments that would be 26 metres wide to construct a six-lane road.
According to officials, JDA is redesigning six segments of the elevated road for the six-lane stretch.
"On Hawa Sadak, a segment near Hilton Hotel will be constructed for the traffic coming from the Ambedkar Circle end. The design of the stretch from Ambedkar Circle to railway crossing at Bais Godam will remain the same as proposed initially," a JDA official said.
To construct the six-lane stretch, the width of the redesigned pillars in each segment will be four metres.
As per the proposal, it will take nearly 30 months to complete the project. After load testing, the work on city's second elevated road began in December 2016. The estimated cost of project is Rs 249 crore.
Once completed, the road is expected to save nearly 40 minutes of travel time and decongest Hawa Sadak as it would offer a non-stop drive at a speed of up to 50km/h. The length of the elevated road from Ambedkar Circle to Sodala is 2.8km. One end of the project will branch out at Chambal Power House on Hawa Sadak to connect with areas like Swej Farm and Shyam Nagar.
