PUNE: With an aim to guide and counsel the youths of the minority communities, police commissioner Rashmi
Shukla and joint commissioner
Ravindra Kadam launched 'Mission Parwaz' at a function in Bhavani Peth on Saturday.
The outreach programme was implemented in 15 police stations across Pune and
Pimpri Chinchwad.
At the inaugural ceremony, Shukla said, "Students and youths from the minority communities possess enough talent. But they hardly receive proper guidance. This initiative will help address these shortcomings."
The programme was launched in the jurisdictions of
Khadak, Kondhwa, Wanowrie, Yerawada, Khadki, Hadapsar, Mundhwa, Faraskhana, Nigdi, Bhosari and some other police stations.
Senior inspectors form each police station will be responsible for spreading awareness among the youth and children from the minority communities. Police stations will facilitate them to improve their educational standards and guide them in different endeavours. The initiative will also help in exploring job opportunities for the youth.
Police will provide guidance, career counselling, educational aids and free vocational training with the help of different city-based institutes and companies.
The pilot project was being carried out in the Bhavani Peth and Lohiyanagar areas under the Khadak police station for last three months. During this period, around 10 youths from these areas got jobs and admissions in the various educational courses with assistance from the police.
