New Real Madrid signing takes awkward photo with Cristiano Ronaldo after Barcelona defeat

REAL MADRID's new signing Vinicius Junior posted a photo alongside Cristiano Ronaldo after the Barcelona defeat - but still called him the best in the world.

Real Madrid suffered a damaging 3-0 defeat to Barcelona at the Bernabeu yesterday.

Goals from Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Aleix Vidal saw Zinedine Zidane's men fall 14 points behind the La Liga leaders.

But it didn't seem to matter for Real new boy Vinicius Junior.

The 17-year-old was in Madrid to experience his first taste of life with the Spanish giants, ahead of his transfer going through next summer.

The Brazilian striker watched Real lose El Clasico to Barca but still uploaded a pic with Ronaldo after the game with his thumb up.

"Melhor do Mundo! Best Of The World! Mejor Del Mundo! @Cristiano" he wrote, making it clear where he stands in the Cristiano Ronaldo v Lionel Messi debate.

Vinicius Junior added five trophy emojis in the post, a reference to the recent Ballon d'Or triumph which put Ronaldo on the same level at Messi.

Real Madrid completed a £40million (€45m) deal for the young striker in May but he will remain at Flamengo on loan for another season.

And while he may have enamoured himself to his new club's fans for his commitment to the cause, Barca supporters will certainly see the funny side.
