Barcelona news: Ousmane Dembele would be happy with Antoine Griezmann transfer

OUSMANE DEMBELE would welcome Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona, even though he may take his place in the team.

Barcelona are flying high at the top of La Liga, now 14 points ahead of Real Madrid after winning El Clasico 3-0.

Goals from Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Aleix Vidal saw Ernesto Valverde's men earn a comprehensive victory at the Bernabeu.

But Barca are already planning for the future and have earmarked a move for Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.

Atletico have reported Barca to Fifa for making an alleged illegal approach for the France striker.

But that has not stopped talk of the move, although they will face competition from Manchester United.

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have spearheaded Barca's attack this season with summer signing Ousmane Dembele suffering an injury shortly after sealing his move from Borussia Dortmund.

Dembele ruptured his knee ligaments but is on the verge of returning to action, likely after the winter break.

Dembele could eventually cost Barca £135million so to leave him on the bench should Griezmann join from Atletico would seem bizarre.

But Spanish outlet Don Balon say the 20-year-old would welcome the striker to the Nou Camp because of their close relationship.

The pair know each other well from their time together with the France national team.

And despite Atletico taking to FIFA over Barcelona's approach for Griezmann, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague thinks a deal is on.

"It’s very close. If he hasn’t been signed it’s because he cannot be signed but they’re very close to agreeing personal terms with Griezmann,” Balague told Sky Sports podcast ‘Transfer Talk’.

“Manchester United were the only ones to put in a massive offer for the player in the summer. It was basically all agreed, the player was happy to go and then he thought about it twice because Atletico Madrid couldn’t sign anyone and he decided to stay on.

“That surprised Mourinho, who had spoken to Griezmann, but he didn’t go that way. Now Manchester United are waiting to see what his decision will be.

“Out of those two teams, it sounds like Barcelona are favourites, but we’ll see how it goes.”
