Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif‘s Tiger Zinda Hai has hit the screens on December 22, 2017, and it gets the second biggest opening of 2017 at Rs. 33.75 crore. Trade Expert took to Twitter and wrote, “Tiger ROARS… Flexes its muscles at the BO and takes an EXTRAORDINARY start… #TigerZindaHai Fri ₹ 33.75 cr. India biz. 4600 screens.” No doubt, this film is off to a fantastic start. On Saturday, the film has earned Rs 69.40 crore.
The sequel has been on a massive run at the box-office and is expected to witness a boost today and tomorrow (since it’s Christmas). Earlier today, Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#TigerZindaHai emerges BOXOFFICE CHAMPION… Shows TERRIFIC trending on Day 2… All set to cross ₹ 100 cr today [Day 3]… Fri 34.10 cr [updated], Sat 35.30 cr. Total: ₹ 69.40 cr. India biz… Biz will be HUGE today and tomorrow [Christmas].” The film is expected take a good jump tomorrow (being Christmas) and touch or surpass a sum of Rs. 100 crores.
Tiger Zinda Hai is a sequel to Kabir Khan’s 2012 blockbuster Ek Tha Tiger which starred Salman and Katrina, who will reprise their roles of RAW and ISI agents Tiger and Zoya respectively. After five years, Salman Khan will be reuniting with his former girlfriend Katrina Kaif in Tiger Zinda Hai and their chemistry will surely set the ticket counters ringing.
Even though the film has opened to positive reviews and is ruling the theatres, the film has landed in a legal trouble since Bhai allegedly made a derogatory remark against a particular caste (Valmiki community), while promoting his film on a television show. Let’s hope that this controversy doesn’t create unnecessary drama leading to low numbers at the box office.
