Chandigarh: The first seven-day special
NSS camp was inaugurated by the state liasion officer, UT administration, Chandigarh Bikram Rana on Sunday. While inaugurating the camp, he shared his thoughts with the NSS volunteers.
Rana said he was interacting with the youth of the entire country through different programmes of the ministry of youth affairs and sports, government of India. He shared the best experiences of other countries like Japan and China and motivated the local youth to strive for excellence. He laid focus on the huge demographic dividend and the excess natural resources available in our country. He said the time has come to convert India, our country into a developed country from a developing one. This can be possible only through the maximum participation of the youth and NSS is the exact platform to do so.
Prof Ronki Ram also shared his thoughts with the NSS volunteers and gave them a lesson to learn more from the community members around them. He said even if these older people are not formally educated, they have a lot of things to share with the youngsters about how to make a secure and safe future. He also shared that society is growing very fast with their exposure to modern technology, but one has to patient and humble, too.
Programme co-ordinator Navdeep Sharma NSS welcomed the guests and read the annual report of activities. She thanked the programme officers and volunteers for their active participation in the activities conducted throughout the year. She also shared that 350 NSS volunteers are expected to attend the camp.
