Much of southeastern Wisconsin got a "White Christmas" as light snow showers laid down a blanket of a few tenths of an inch Sunday.
Now prepare for a bitterly cold Christmas Day.
On Sunday afternoon the National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory to be in effect from 6 p.m. Monday through noon Wednesday as a blast of Arctic air will combine with westerly winds of 10 to 15 mph to create dangerous wind chills.
Monday, Christmas Day, is predicted to be breezy with a 30% chance of snow showers in the morning and a high temperature of 18 degrees.
A big chill is expected Monday evening, as bitterly cold air moves in, with lows of around zero and wind chills plunging to minus 5 to minus 15 in southeastern Wisconsin and 15 to 25 below zero elsewhere in the state.
The weather service warned the coldest conditions will be Monday night into Tuesday morning and Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Meanwhile, as snow showers made some roads slippery Sunday, Wisconsin Department of Transportation officials warned motorists to slow down on the state's highways.
"Folks, road conditions are very poor," DOT tweeted.
