Kirron Kher inaugurates Community Centre at Sector 37

Chandigarh, December 24:- Smt. Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, UT Chandigarh today dedicated one of the finest and state of the art newly built community center in Sector 37 in Chandigarh in presence of Smt. Asha Jaswal, Mayor, Sh. Jitender Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Sh. Rajesh Gupta, Senior Deputy Mayor, Sh. Anil Dubey, Deputy Mayor, Sh. Arun Sood, former Mayor & area councilor, Sh. Sanjay Tandon, independent Director GAIL & president, BJP, Chandigarh, Sh. Manoj Bansal, Chief Engineer, Sh. N.P. Sharma, S.E. B&R, Sh. Sanjay Arora, S.E. Public Health, MCC, other councilors & officers of MCC and prominent persons from the city amongst eminent guests present on the occasion.

Appreciating the contribution of area councilor, Smt. Kirron Kher said that it will be a model community center in Chandigarh and will motivate other cities in the country to follow its architecture and amenities imbibed in it.

The MP said that developing an integrated mechanism to make a one-stop solution at this center which has availability of caterer, florist, electric decorator and sound system and other arrangements required while in any family function.

Smt. Asha Jaswal, Mayor on this occasion said that one thing which has made this community center different and distinct from other community centers is its stamped concrete flooring and disabled friendly entry, exit, and public conveniences. She summoned all the ward residents to ensure a promise to the MCC to maintain the community center through community participation so that it last for long.

She said that the MCC is also constructing community centers in sector 43, 50, 52 & Indra colony which are under construction and are likely to be completed soon. Further, the MCC intends to reconstruct the community centers in sectors 20, 21 & 38 after dismantling the existing structures as the existing buildings are very old and insufficient for the present day needs of the residents in the surrounding area.

Earlier, Sh. Arun Sood, area councilor welcomed the Chief Guest, other dignitaries and the residents of Chandigarh at the inaugural ceremony and said that he has taken the keen interest in conceptualizing the design of this community center and the Community Centre at Sector 38 West, which was inaugurated last week. He has highlighted the key features of the newly built Community Center at Sector 37. He said, there is no doubt, it is a state of art building equipped with a blend of modern amenities required for a perfect banquette hall. He further said it is built on 15370 sq. ft. the covered surface area with an expenditure of Rs. 4.98 crore,  having an air-conditioned, soundproof hall with sitting capacity of 400-450 persons including modular kitchen, pantry, bridal make-up room, family room and an open-air kitchen.

He also said, he has taken into consideration the local decision making with area welfare associations, community people in planning Library, the reading room for children and senior citizen, gymnasium-cum-fitness center, parking and open-air terrace for evening get-togethers, which are built on the pattern of any five-star hotels in the city. The community center will also have a provision of E-sampark center, which will link the local residents of the ward to various other services offered by Chandigarh Administration.

He also appreciated the role of all Resident welfare associations for their proactive participation in the development of ward not only for this project but also for maintenance of all the green belt and supporting Swachh Bharat Mission too. He also said the role of engineering wing of MCC, as they have accomplished the task before record time i.e. one year and five months. He made the whole team to get an appreciation of the Chief Guest.

He also applauded the role of all councilors in approving the agenda regarding dismantling the existing community center here which was more than 25 years old. Now, the councilors can see the change in this area with a provision of beautiful community center here.

In the last, Sh. Jitender Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, MCC thanked the Chief Guest for making her presence in the function. He also thanked Mayor and other dignitaries and especially Sh. NP Sharma, S.E. B&R for working tirelessly in accomplishing before the deadline for completing the project. He also urged city resident to make their valuable contribution in making Chandigarh a top-ranked city in the country under Swachh Bharat Mission.

He also declared that this year the MCC will recommend the name of concerned Sub Divisional Engineer, Road division, MCC, Sh. Maninder Singh for the award in the Republic Day function of Chandigarh Administration scheduled to be held on 26th January 2018.
