John Power - lead singer of Cast
Whoever thought that Cast would be a good band to tour with Shed Seven was thinking along the right lines. The band are from the same period - they played the gig like they owned it.

Finetime, Walkaway and Alright were highlights of a concise set. They all seemed to be enjoying it too.

Shed Seven
York's Shed Seven have recently released what is arguably the best album of their career albeit 14 years of time has passed between this new album and the previous one.

They could have sung every track off the new album and it would have been a good concert, but they have a strong back catalogue too. Things though kicked off with Room In My House - the first track off the new album - Instant Pleasures. With its rousing chant it brought a football match atmosphere to the gig.

It is not long before we are going back in time with Speakeasy and Where Have You Been Tonight? Lead singer Rick Witter is in fine form "this is the closest we get to York" he says" so this is like a hometown gig for us"

Also by Graham Clark...
NYC Bar And Grill, Darlington
Jools Holland And His Rhythm And Blues Orchestra, Harrogate Conference Centre
Englebert Humperdinck- The Man I Want To Be (OK Good Records)
The Craig Charles Funk And Soul Club 5 Compilation (Freestyle)
Pizzastorm, Nottingham
People Will Talk, another track off the new album strides confidently whilst Better Days also off the new album sees the band in classic Shed Seven mode.

It is not just the long standing fans who are here, Witter spots younger fans down the front of the stage, when discovering they were only 18 years old he jokes "you were not even born when we first started."

She Left Me On Friday had a touch of The Stone Roses I Am The Resurrection at the end of the track. Just like the Stone Roses, Shed Seven seem to be enjoying a second coming.

Of course the fans also want to hear the older tracks and they were not disappointed with Disco Down, Going For Gold and Getting Better.

As Chasing Rainbows ends the gig and the song comes to a close, the fans are still singing the song at the top of their voices as they leave the venue - it made you proud to be a Yorkshireman with one of Yorkshire's finest groups going out of 2017 with a blast.
