Arsenal likely to launch cut-price Thomas Lemar bid in January

ARSENAL are likely to make a bid for Thomas Lemar in January - but won’t put up the £90m they offered for the Monaco star in the summer.

Thomas Lemar is wanted by Arsenal but they won't offer £90m

Lemar looked to be heading to the Emirates on deadline day in August after the huge bid was accepted.

Liverpool were keen on the Frenchman too but the Gunners put cash on the table and Monaco gave the green light to a deal going through.

In the end the transfer didn’t get completed as time ran out.

But the signing of Lemar could be back on the agenda in January.

The Mail on Sunday report Arsenal are likely to bid for him again next month - if Alexis Sanchez is sold to either Paris St-Germain or Manchester City.

Starsport understand Sanchez wants to join City and an agreement over personal terms is as good as done.

Mesut Ozil is also a target for Barcelona and any departure for the Germany star could also see an offer go in for Lemar.

But the Mail say Arsenal won’t go as high as £90m if they do decide to launch a bid.

In recent weeks Chelsea have also been linked with Lemar, with Antonio Conte keen to get new faces on board.

The Italian is said to be eyeing up four players, one of whom is the Monaco star.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is also keen on the France international, with doubts surrouding the long-term future of Kop star Philippe Coutinho.

Manchester United are also after Lemar, 22.
