2017 AISA ALL-METRO FOOTBALL TEAM
Player of the year: Tripp Carr, Autauga Academy
ALL-METRO OFFENSE
QB: Tripp Carr, Jr., Autauga Academy
Threw for 2,215 yards and 23 touchdowns. Also rushed for 600 yards and 10 touchdowns. Led the Generals to second consecutive AISA Class AA state title game. Two-time all-metro. Second-team AISA all-state.
RB: Jordan Epkins, So., Autauga Academy
Rushed for 972 yards and 12 touchdowns in nine games. Had six 100-yards rushing games. Led team with 76 points scored.
RB: Collin Harris, Sr., Macon-East
Rushed for 538 yards and seven touchdowns. Also threw for 106 yards and a touchdown. AISA all-star selection.
WR: Wyatt Barnett, Sr., Hooper Academy
Caught 36 passes for 585 yards and nine touchdowns this season.
WR: Brock Taunton, Jr., Macon-East
Caught 36 passes for 742 yards and 12 touchdowns. Also had 206 rushing yards with three touchdowns.
WR: Kendrick Rogers, So., Autauga Academy
Caught 48 passes for 819 yards and seven touchdowns. Also had a rushing touchdown. Finished 1,027 all-purpose yards.
OL: Chase Little, So., Lowndes Academy
Graded out at 85 percent despite missing four games due to a broken collarbone. Voted team's best offensive lineman. Had 31 pancake blocks during the season. Also played offensive line.
OL: Jackson Fancher, Sr., Hooper Academy
Helped lead an offense gained over 3,700 total yards this season. Also made 51 tackles with five sacks and 10 tackles for loss.
OL: Trace Ott, Sr., Autauga Academy
Helped block for an offense which gained over 4,700 total yards this season. First-team AISA All-State.
OL: Trevor Langford, Fort Dale Academy
First-team AISA All-State selection.
OL: Connor Higbe, Jr., Macon-East
Graded out at 83 percent this season.
ATH: Jon Johnson, Sr., Lowndes Academy
Finished with 1,277 total yards and 13 touchdowns (10 rushing). Made 17 of 19 extra-point attempts. Had a 32-yard punt average and 146 return yards. Made 28 tackles and five interceptions from free safety. Two-time All-Metro. AISA all-star selection.
ALL-METRO DEFENSE
DL: Buddy Johnson, Sr., Lowndes Academy
Led the team with 50 tackles. Also had four fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles and a sack. AISA all-star selection. Two-time All-Metro.
DL: Austin Phillips, Fort Dale Academy
Finished with 64 tackles, five sacks and three fumble recoveries.
DL: Cole Crook, Sr., Lowndes Academy
Finished with 48 tackles and five sacks. Finished with 123 career tackles.
DL: Colby Jordan, So., Macon-East
Finished with 52 tackles and 12 sacks. AISA second-team all-state selection.
LB: Khalid Young, Sr., Autauga Academy
Led the team with 50 tackles with a sack and two forced fumbles. Three-time All-Metro.
LB: Wes Pugh, Sr., Macon-East
Finished with 69 tackles, nine tackles for loss, four sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Returned a fumble 56 yards for a touchdown. AISA all-star selection.
LB: Mason Ivey, Jr., Hooper Academy
Finished with 77 tackles and two sacks.
LB: Djay Gardner, Sr., Autauga Academy
Finished with 36 tackles, a sack and an interception. Two-time All-Metro.
DB: Granger Armstrong, Sr., Autauga Academy
Finished with 37 tackles, five interceptions and a forced fumble.
DB: JC Ceman, Jr. Macon-East
Finished with 30 tackles, three interceptions and a fumble recovery.
DB: Tripp Richardson, Fort Dale Academy
Finished with 67 tackles and six interceptions.
ATH: Grant Tyson, So., Hooper Academy
Led the team with 112 tackles, four sacks, 17 tackles for loss. Also had 384 total yards and five touchdowns. Two-time all-state performer. Two-time all-metro.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Glynn Lott, Macon-East
Led the Knights to a 10-2 record a season after finishing just 2-7. Guided the Knights to the No. 6 ranking in the final AISA regular-season poll, their highest ranking since being ranked fourth in 2008. Macon-East has its first season of double-digit wins since 2000.
