Vadodara: Three persons cheated a city-based medicine wholesaler of Rs 41.5 lakh by falsely identifying themselves as directors of Mumbai-based healthcare company.
The accused Mukesh Timrecha, Vipendra Bagnel and Gaurichandra alias Neha Gowda took money from the wholesaler Feroz Patel in May this year saying that they wanted to open a medical store in partnership on Sama-Savli Road. However, they took the money and disappeared.
Patel, who lives on Ajwa Road and has a medical shop in Raopura, told the police in his complaint that on seeing an advertisement of opening medical store in partnership, he met the trio at a hospital in May this year.
The accused identified themselves as directors of Adinath Healthcare Services Private Limited and extended support for the medical store.
After agreeing to terms and policies and finishing the paper work, Patel decided to give them Rs 35 lakh as security deposit and Rs 6.5 lakh as cost.
Police said that Patel gave them a cheque of Rs 35 lakh and transferred the remaining amount through real-time gross settlement (RTGS) in their bank account.
After transferring the money Patel asked them when they would start the medical store. However, they kept dilly dallying under some or the other excuse. Last week, Patel went to the hospital at Sama-Savli Road where he had met them for the first time.
According to police, Patel met the owner of the hospital there who told him that trio had taken the hospital premises from him on rent and they had fled away without paying him rent too.
Police said that they checked at the addresses of the trio, but their homes were found to be locked.
