DeKalb issues 'parking prohibition' on designated snow routes

The assistant director of Public Works for the city of DeKalb has declared a “parking prohbition” on all designated snow routes in the city of DeKalb. Thereby activating a parking prohibition on all designated snow emergency routes in effect today, beginning at 12:30 p.m. The snow route declaration will be canceled when plowing has been completed. 

The DeKalb Police Department will be enforcing snow emergency routes and seasonal parking restrictions. Police Officers are authorized to ticket and tow vehicles in violation of this ordinance. Any person in violation of this ordinance will be fined not less than $25.00 or more than $75.00. 

DeKalb residents are encouraged to remove their cars from all city streets to facilitate snow removal operations during this snow event. 

Also, all sidewalks shall be kept clear of ice and snow after an accumulation of 2 inches or more in accordance with section 51.21-5 of the DeKalb Municipal code.
