VADODARA: Senior officials of the tribal development department rushed to the residential school at
Gojariya village of
Kawant taluka in
Chhota Udepur on Saturday after 177 girl students fled from the school on Thursday and Friday.
The officials were informed by the principal of the school after the girls fled to their homes alleging misbehaviour by some teachers and their inability to finish the syllabus before exams began. One of the staff members of the school said that on Thursday, 59 girl students of class
VIII went home during recess time leading to a panic situation. When the staff members of the school could not find these girls, they asked their parents if they had reached home.
On Friday, the parents brought the girls back to the school and alleged that the teachers in the school are not teaching them properly and behaving badly with the girls. While the allegations were being made by the parents, 118 other girls from class IX and class X too jumped the wall of the school and ran away.
After the second batch of girls fled, school's principal Dharmishta
Patodiya lodged gave a missing persons' complaint at Kawant police station.
On Saturday, senior officials of the tribal development department from Chhota Udepur reached the school and heard the complaints of students and their parents.
Patodiya said that the officials were at the school campus till late evening and will later decide on what action need to be taken.
